Transcriptionists
working at our India offices are among the best in the business.
In addition to a college degree, they are required to possess
prior medical transcription experience, a strong working knowledge
of medical terminology and a thorough understanding of AAMT
guidelines. Many of our transcriptionists are qualified physicians,
nurses and pharmacists as well.
If a candidate successfully meets the aforementioned requirements, he/she may
be hired by Acusis. Upon selection, the candidate must undergo a three-phase
training process:
1. Candidates are trained on Acusis client dictations, client formatting guidelines,
normals and templates.
2. Training on AcuSuiteSM software,
followed by hands on training in the following areas:
a) Internet communications and data transfer methods.
b) Internet research skills
c) Software installation and graphical interface operations on Windows 98, 2000,
and NT, including additional concepts such as macro creation, etc.
3. A detailed orientation on the Acusis method of operations, including privacy
and security, as a part of HIPAA company compliance.
The Wall Street Journal (3/16/00) cites medical transcription in India as "a
highly competitive job - a well-paid job." A recent article told of Richa
Singh, a dentist, and Raman Mehta, an opthamologist, who are training with their
classmates (other university graduates, many science majors) to become part of
the growing body of transcriptionists in India. The U.S. ambassador says, "India
was always the black spot on the other side of the globe. Today, it's the place
where we do the other 12 hours of business." |
