Acusis® President
and CEO Speaking at the
Global Conference Institute’s Fifth World Health
Conference
in Chicago on May 8 & 9, 2003
Deputy Commissioner of the FDA
to Give Up to the Minute Briefing on SARS
PITTSBURGH, PA, May 6, 2003 – Acusis,
a leading provider of outsourced medical transcription services,
today announced that Acusis President and CEO David Iwinski,
Jr. will be speaking at The Global Conference Institute's
Fifth World Health Conference, which is being held this week
in Chicago.
During his presentation entitled, "Outsourcing to Increase
Financial Opportunities for Healthcare Institutions and Hospitals," Iwinski
will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing
and the healthcare industry’s current outsourcing
trends and future opportunities.
"Hospitals and healthcare institutions traditionally outsourced
laundry, food, and technology services, but are now recognizing
the benefits of outsourcing their clinical operations as
well," says Iwinski.
"Research shows that there has been a shift in the primary
reason why organizations choose to outsource," Iwinski
adds. "It is not just about saving money, but enabling
organizations to focus on their core competencies. By outsourcing,
healthcare organizations can focus their resources on delivering
quality patient care."
"We are delighted that Mr. Iwinski will be presenting on the
session ‘Healthcare Economics in an Era of Change,’” Deborah
S. Ziskind, the Global Institute's President and Chairman
of the Board, said. "Acusis is one of the preeminent
organizations in the world that delivers cost-effective
and accurate outsourced medical transcription services.
Mr. Iwinski
always provides insightful analysis and results oriented
solutions as to how outsourcing can improve efficiencies
and save money for healthcare organizations."
Dr. Lester Crawford, Deputy Commissioner for the Food and
Drug Administration, will deliver the leading keynote
address on Thursday, May 8. Dr. Crawford will provide
an up to the minute briefing on SARS and Bioterrorism.
He will also report on critical health findings that
will be released for the first time at The Global Conference
Institute's 5th World Health Conference on May 8 and
9 at The University of Chicago.
Actress Dana Reeve, moving force in The Christopher Reeve
Paralysis and a champion for funding of medical and scientific
research, will deliver a special address after she receives
The Global Conference Institute's Healthcare Humanitarian
Award for 2003, the institute's highest honor. Last year's
recipient of The Global Conference Institute's Healthcare
Humanitarian award was Sharon Stone, Chairman of the Campaign
for AIDS Research for the American Foundation for AIDS
research. Past recipients include Thomas E. Starzl, M.D.,
Ph.D., Michael DeBakey, M.D. and Nancy Goodman Brinker,
Founding Chairman, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Editor’s Note: The Global Conference Institute, founded
by Deborah Ziskind in 1998, devotes itself to the most
timely and critical issues in world healthcare and medicine.
Comprised of an advisory board of leading physicians, corporate

in their respective institutions, organizations and governments.
"The Global Conference Institute has continually demonstrated

medicine. Over the past several years, we have witnessed
significant changes in our healthcare system. This year’s
Conference will seek to examine these changes, as well
as the challenges they pose to healthcare providers across
the nation and the world. I commend the Conference founder,
President and Chairman of the Board Deborah Ziskind, for
her integral role in creating a forum to address these
challenges, and for her tireless dedication to the human
